Albert Roy Byrd

Albert Roy Byrd of West Liberty, KY, formerly of South Lebanon, OH, passed away Saturday, August 13, 2011 at the age of 58 years at his residence after a brief illness. He was born July 14, 1953 in Dayton, OH, son of the late Albert Jr. and Hazel Byrd. He was preceded in death by his wife of 36 years, Deborah "Debbie" Byrd. Roy was a maintenance foreman for Whiting Mfg in Cincinnati, OH and Hazel Green, KY and for Lion Apparel Distribution in Hazel Green, KY. Roy was also a member of the First Church of God. He was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle and grandpa. He enjoyed every moment he spent with his wife, family and friends.

Survivors include one son, Daniel (Lisa) of West Liberty, KY; five grandchildren, Jonathan, Sara, Jacob, Danielle and Daniel Jr.; one brother, Troy "Goob" Byrd of Hillsboro, OH; a sister, Brenda (Raymond) Edwards of Oregonia, OH; also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, family and friends who will miss him greatly.

Roy and his family moved to West Liberty, KY in 1990 with long time friends, Jim Fleshman and his family, to open and start Whiting Mfg, which closed in 2004. After it closed, Roy maintained the factory and helped bring the Lion Apparel Distribution into the old Whiting building. Roy and his family lived in West Liberty for 21 years. He loved his job and all the friends and coworkers at Whiting Mfg., Lion Distribution and all of the good friends and neighbors.

Friends will be received 6-8 PM Monday, August 15, 2011 at Potter Funeral Home, 329 Glenn Avenue, West Liberty, Ky 41472 and 11 AM - 1 PM Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at First Church of God, 325 Pleasant Drive, South Lebanon, OH 45065.

Funeral service will be held 1 PM Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at the First Church of God.
