Anne Bernese Crowe, 89,of Sardinia, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on May 19, 2026 after an extended illness. She was lovingly reunited with her husband of 43 years, Thomas E. Crowe and parents Robert and Bernese Mackie.
Anne was born on August 7, 1936 and raised in Lansing, Michigan with her brothers Robert and the late Ronald, and her late sisters, Marilyn Fuller and Lois Sprayberry. After graduating from Grand Ledge High School in 1954, Anne earned a degree in Theology from Tennessee Temple Bible School in 1958. After graduation she lived in Florida and then moved to St. Louis, Missouri to accept a position as an administrative assistant with Ralston Purina. While in Florida, she met Peggy, a friend through church who would eventually become her sister-in-law after introducing her to Tom.
Anne moved from St. Louis to Tom’s farm in Highland County, Ohio to marry him on May 9, 1980. She became a step-mother to Mark S. (Regina) Crowe and Tina L. (late Doug) Bohl. Anne and Tom built a life together on the farm that she absolutely loved. She loved cooking, baking, gardening and farming alongside Tom. An avid and talented knitter and crocheter, Anne enjoyed making and gifting beautiful afghans, tablecloths, doilies, baby sweaters and booties to family and friends that will be forever treasured. Anne always found time for her love of reading. Her favorite books included her Reader’s Digest collection of true or believable stories that had a positive message.
As devoted grandparents, she and Tom happily spent much of their time babysitting and creating wonderful memories with their grandchildren Amanda (Jason) Bledsoe, James (Jessica) Crowe, Mark (Shelby) Crowe, Michael (Haley) Crowe, Sebastian Crowe, Jason (Ashley) Bohl, Sarah Hatfield, Jared (Andrea) Bohl, Marissa (Cory) Copas. They were proud great-grandparents of Bryce, Blaine, Austin, Aiden, Gabriella, Kellen, Kendi, Declan, Asher, Lovely, Willow, River, Ezra, Ira, Ridley, Ella, Jacob, Emma, Archer, Leighton, Talan, and Suttyn.
Anne was a Christian who was faithful to God and His church, attending service every Sunday where she frequently signed the sermon for the deaf. She and Tom were most recently members of Bible Baptist Church of Mt. Orab. Due to a cancer diagnosis in December 2022, Anne went into memory care with Tom. She was blessed to be with him until he passed away in May 2023. Anne’s unwavering faith kept her strong and resilient as she continued to face her own decline in health and memory. She would often be found reading her Bible when family came to visit. Her concern for other’s souls was always abundant. She was known for her kindness toward everyone, including her care team. She helped them with the other residents and wanted to make sure everyone there had a church service to attend and an opportunity to accept Jesus Christ as their Savior. Anne believed she was here without Tom because she still had work to do spreading the word of Jesus. She spoke of this often during visits with family.
A visitation will take place Tuesday, May 26, 2026 from 5-7 p.m. at the Bible Baptist Church 990 West Main Street, Mount Orab, Ohio with a funeral service to immediately follow. Burial will take place on Wednesday May 27, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. in the Roberts Cemetery, Mowrystown, Ohio
Anne will be missed and remembered for her warm smile, as a loving wife to Tom, as a dedicated “Mamaw” to her grandchildren, and as a witness for God through her genuine trust and faith in Him.
