Barbara Lee Steward

Barbara Lee Steward, née Zettel, a beloved and vibrant soul whose life touched many, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2026, in Bethel, Ohio. Born on January 29, 1943, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Barbara embodied grace, passion, and dedication throughout her 83 remarkable years.

Barbara’s journey was marked by a commitment to learning and sisterhood, having graduated from OCAS at the University of Cincinnati in 1963. Her collegiate years were enriched by her membership in the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority—an affiliation she cherished and remained a proud member of throughout her life, symbolizing the enduring bonds she valued deeply.

Her spirit was boundless, reflected in the rich tapestry of her hobbies and interests. Barbara was an amateur radio operator, an avocation that speaks to her inquisitive nature and love for connection. She was an avid biker and a proud member of the Harley Owners Group, embracing the freedom of the open road with enthusiasm and zest. In her quieter moments, she delighted in collecting dolls and antiques—a testament to her appreciation of beauty and history. Travel held a special place in Barbara’s heart, fueling her curiosity and enriching her soul with experiences and stories she would often share with those around her.

She is survived by her devoted daughters, Victoria (Dwayne) Stewart and Michelle (Tony) Hernandez, who carry forward her legacy of kindness and resilience. Her grandchildren, Cory (Jessica) Steward and Eric Judy, along with great-granddaughter Annie Steward, were a source of immense pride and joy, reminding all who knew her of the deep roots and blossoming branches of her family tree. She is also remembered fondly by other family members and friends who cherish her memory.

She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Robert Anderson and Thelma Henrietta Katherine Zettel, and her dear brother, Robert A. (Kathy) Zettel. Barbara shared a devoted 54 years of marriage with her beloved husband, William Joseph Steward, whose absence is deeply felt but whose love remains a guiding light.
