Barbara "Susie" Waits

Barbara "Susie" Waits, a cherished member of the Mount Orab community and devoted family matriarch, passed away on April 22, 2026, in Mount Orab, Ohio. Born on October 12, 1947, in Washington, Kentucky, Barbara dedicated her life to service, both professionally and within her community, leaving an enduring legacy.

Barbara’s career was marked by her commitment to Holman Motors, from which she retired with a strong work ethic and respect earned from colleagues and customers alike. Beyond her professional life, she was a faithful member of the Mt. Orab Methodist Church and had also attended Buford Methodist Church, nurturing her spiritual life and fostering connections throughout the community.

Her passion extended beyond her faith and career. Barbara was deeply involved with the community pantry, striving to help those in need and exemplifying the spirit of generosity and care that defined her character. She had a special affection for animals, a love that was central to her life and will be remembered fondly by all who knew her.

Barbara's family was the cornerstone of her existence. She is survived by her beloved son Adam Renchen, daughter Robin Gooding, and son Ryan Waits. She took immense pride in her four grandchildren—Jena, Jamie, Kyle, and Dacota—as well as five great-grandchildren: Aoife, Victoria, Zachary, Axel, and Aiden. Their lives were enriched by her unwavering support and boundless love.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gary Waits; her son, Rudy Waits; her brother, Buzzy Dugan; and her parents, Henry and Irene Catron. The impact of her loss is deeply felt by her family and by the many friends and community members whose lives she touched.

A graveside service to honor Barbara’s life will be held on May 1, 2026, at 12:00 noon in Mt. Orab Cemetery located on North High Street in Mount Orab, Ohio. The service will provide an opportunity for those who knew Barbara to pay their respects and celebrate the remarkable life she led.

Throughout her life, Barbara’s dedication to her family, church, community, and animals encapsulated the values she held dear. In memory of Barbara Sue Waits, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or to a preferred charity supporting animal welfare, continuing her legacy of kindness and generosity.

Barbara’s presence was a gift to all who encountered her, and her memory will remain a source of strength and inspiration to her family, friends, and the community she loved so dearly.
