Calvin "Cal" F. Long, Jr.

Calvin “Cal” F. Long Jr., of Mariemont, Ohio passed away on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at the age of 78. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio to Calvin F. and Janet H. Long Sr.

Cal was the much-loved husband of Patty L. (née Kelley) Long, loving father of Melanie (Andy) Head and Adam Long, proud grandpa of Nina Head, Leila Head, and his step- grandchildren Linnea Prosser, Sammy Lapka, Andrew Head, Molly Rahtz, Will Rahtz, Elle Rahtz, & Emily Rahtz, and adored brother of Joan Osterbrock. Cal also rescued many dogs and loved each one of them dearly.

In addition to his parents, Cal was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Ronald Osterbrock.

Cal was a former Cincinnati Police Sergeant and a Security Manager for 20 years at General Electric in Evendale, Ohio. He also graduated from the FBI National Academy, was past President of American Arts Society of Cincinnati, an artist and self-taught painter, and in 2004 was a heart transplant recipient and went on to become an avid softball player with Yesterday’s Kids of Cincinnati, Ohio.

A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held at Megie Funeral Home & Crematory, 529 Main St., Milford, Ohio 45122, on Saturday, August 9, 2025, from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM.

If desired the family suggests memorial contributions in Cal’s memory be directed to an animal rescue of one’s choice or to the American Heart Association.
