Carolyn had a joyous reunion with her sons and dog August 15, 2026. I am sure they are running around God’s zoo with Angel the cheetah.
Carolyn lived a life characterized by devotion to family, service to her community, and commitment to her values. Her early years in Cincinnati shaped the foundations of warmth, generosity, and dedication that defined her journey through life.
As a stay-at-home mother, Carolyn devoted herself wholeheartedly to her family. The love and care she bestowed upon her children set a standard for compassion and nurturing that will long be remembered. Her family was always at the center of her life, and she approached motherhood with unwavering commitment.
Beyond her home, Carolyn was an active and cherished member of her community. With a deep appreciation for the natural world and a passion for service, she dedicated 22 years as a volunteer at the Cincinnati Zoo. Her steadfast commitment in this role left an indelible mark not just on the institution but also on the many lives she touched through her service. Carolyn’s efforts reflected her enduring belief in stewardship and the importance of giving back.
A long-time member of the Milford United Methodist Church, Carolyn was guided by her faith, which shaped her actions and provided her with a source of strength and comfort throughout her life. Her presence within the church community was marked by kindness, integrity, and an eagerness to help others.
Carolyn is survived by her beloved granddaughters, Noe and Malia McAfee, as well as her niece, Suzanne Bischoff, and so many friends and neighbors. Their lives are a testament to the profound influence Carolyn had as a guiding spirit and source of encouragement.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack McAfee; her sons, Michael and Christopher McAfee; her sister, Virginia Bay; her brother, James Told; and her parents Edgar and Mary Told. The memories they shared together remain an enduring comfort to all who knew her.
Carolyn May McAfee’s legacy is one of love, steadfastness, and selfless giving. Her memory will be cherished by her family and all those whose lives were enriched by her presence.
Services will be at the convenience of the family, please consider donating to the Cincinnati Zoo or the American Heart Association.
