Cecil Thornton, aged 94, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on March 6, 2026, in Milford, Ohio. Born on July 12, 1931, in Russell Springs, Kentucky, Cecil led a life filled with love and dedication.
A respected member of the workforce, Cecil retired from the Ford Motor Company, where he was a proud member of the United Auto Workers (UAW). Throughout his career, he exemplified hard work and commitment, traits that extended into his personal life.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Cecil had a multitude of interests that brought him joy. He was an avid fisherman and boater, finding peace and contentment on the water. His love for gardening and the outdoors nourished not only his spirit but also those around him, as he shared the fruits of his labor with family and friends. Additionally, his passion for beekeeping showed his admiration for nature's intricate balance.
Cecil was a dedicated member of Landmark Christian Church, where he fostered friendships and community ties that were important to him. He leaves behind a legacy of compassion and kindness, reflected in his deep bonds with family.
Cecil is survived by his beloved wife of 75 years, Arnelda Thornton of Milford, Ohio; his children, Sherri (David) Barringer of Milford, Ohio, and Cecil Dennis Thornton of Peru, New York; his grandchildren, Ashley, Ryan, Brendon, Nicholas and Kevin; as well as four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sylvester and Sally Thornton, as well as five brothers and two sisters.
A graveside service will be held in his honor on March 12, 2026, at Landmark Memorial Gardens in Cincinnati, Ohio, beginning at 1:00 PM. This gathering will celebrate the remarkable life of a man who touched the hearts of many through his unwavering love and character.
