Daniel H. Roll

Daniel Harry Roll, husband of Linda(Figgins) Roll, died at home on April 14, 2017. Father to Shannon Roll, Andrea(Kunie)Kolb and Bernie Roll, grandfather to Ariel Roll, Kourtney Kolb and McKenzie Kolb, great-grandfather to Elyziah Bennett. He was born on August 16,1942 to Martin and Marguerite(Wissell) Roll, was a brother to Martin (Mary Lou) Roll, and an uncle to Marty Roll and Michelle Devlin.
Dan graduated from Hughes High School in 1960 and joined the Air Force where he served as a jet engine mechanic in the Stragetic Air Command Eighth Air Force.
After leaving the service, he was employed with the General Electric Company as an appliance technician. In 1997, he retired from GE after 30 years of service and began his second career as a retired person, a job he really loved!
He loved to hunt, fish, and working on cars. He was the person the neighbors called whenever they were having a problem with cars or appliances. He had an extensive knife, coffee mug and model car collection. His dream was to one day own a Corvette. On the day he went to buy that car, he got sidetracked at another dealership and bought the car he dubbed "Hot Dog". He enjoyed driving around town in the car, but was always afraid he would get pulled over for speeding. When asked what happened to his Corvette, his response was," Kunie was right. If I bought the Corvette, I would probably wreck it due to not being able to handle the speed. This way, I get a car with a lot of speed, is a lot more comfortable to sit in and a heck of a lot cheaper… AND I like the color!"
Unfortunately, his bout with cancer cut short his life. He fought long and hard, but eventually his body just wore out.
An Open House and Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, May 5, 2017, beginning at 6:00pm at the Day Heights Fireman's Hall, 1313 State Route 131, Milford 45150. In lieu of flowers, they ask that you make a donation to Hospice of Cincinnati, P.O. Box 633597, Cincinnati, Ohio 45263, The American Cancer Society, 2808 Reading Rd., Cincinnati, Ohio 45206, The Ronald McDonald House, 350 Erkenbrechen Ave., Cincinnati, Ohio 45229, or to a charity of your choice.
