Doris Inger Kocher

Doris Kocher, also fondly known as "Dodie" was born on August 20, 1920 to the late Ingerbor and Julius Schatzman. She lived in Pleasant Ridge, attended Walnut Hills High School and received a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Cincinnati, where she was an active member of the Chi Omega sorority. Doris worked in market research at Proctor and Gamble until her marriage to Robert William Kocher, her childhood neighbor and sweetheart in October 1942. They were married for 60 years until his death in 2001. Together they had three sons; Robert Windsor (Cathie) Kocher, Randal Lee (Judith) Kocher and the late Gary Nielson (Sylvia) Kocher and raised them in the Milford and Terrace park communities where she encouraged the love of nature and supported all of their athletic endeavors. Doris was involved in the PTA, enjoyed playing piano, loved to sing, her favorite being Handel's Messiah and was a member of the Milford First United Methodist Church and Armstrong Chapel choirs as well as singing with the Forest Aires. She continued singing soprano with the Forest Aires well into her 70's and later the SEM Haven Retirement services appreciated her beautiful voice. Doris moved to SEM Haven in Milford over 20 years ago, graduating through the different care levels. She and her family appreciated all of the love and care she received from the SEM Haven staff. She was always a true lady in every sense of the word and will be missed by many. Doris is survived by two of her sons; Robert and Randal as well as her grandchildren Adam, Brandon, Annie, Nilsson, Spencer, Grant, Shelley and great grandchildren Windsor, London, Ellie, Thaddeus and Shepard. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband Robert, son Gary and granddaughter Heather. Visitation will be 1:00 PM Monday, December 3, 2018 until time of service, 2:00 PM all at Armstrong Chapel, Indian Hill.
