Dorothy Ruth "Dink" Matthews

Dorothy Ruth “Dink” Matthews of Mt. Orab, Ohio passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, she was 99 years young. Ruth was born to the late Joseph George and Dora Katherine (nee Riley) Moeller on June 3, 1925, in Columbus, Ohio.

Ruth is survived by her devoted children: Joseph Matthews of Mt. Orab, Ohio, Ruth Ann Woodyard of Mt. Orab, Ohio, Rose (Woody) Whittington of Mt. Orab, Ohio, June Ann Matthews of Hyde Park, Ohio, Russell (Kim) Matthews of Alexandria, Kentucky, and Mary (Tom) Hammersley of Mt. Orab, Ohio. She is also survived by her adored grandchildren; Craig (Audra) Woodyard of Mt. Orab, Ohio, Cathy (Bryant) Smith of Williamsburg, Ohio, Cris (Karen) Forney of Amelia, Ohio, Kevin (Jerri) Forney of Mt. Orab, Ohio, Jennifer (Jim) Ketcham of Rockwall, Texas, Brad (Ashley) Forney of Burlington, Kentucky, Jodi Ann (Carlos) Gibson of Cincinnati, Ohio, Michael Matthews of Russellville, Ohio, Alecia Matthews of Alexandria, Kentucky, Brittany (Tim) Brinker of Batavia, Ohio, and Brandon Hammersley of Batavia, Ohio; along with numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents Ruth was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50 years, Russell Joseph Matthews, her son-in-law, Ed Woodyard, and her siblings: Mary Tatum, Bob Moeller, and Rose Mary Moeller.

Ruth was a member of the St. Michael Church in Mt. Orab, Ohio. She loved to play cards and board games. Ruth enjoyed cooking, gardening, and watching her children and grandchildren.

Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, August 9, 2024, at 11:00 am at St. Michael Church located at 220 South High Street, Mt. Orab, Ohio 45154. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am and go until the time of service. Father Cordonnier officiating. Burial will follow the mass at Mt. Orab Cemetery, Mt. Orab, Ohio.
