Frank P. Kappel

Frank P. Kappel, age 97, passed away on Tuesday, November 3, 2020. He was the beloved husband of the late Florence M. Kappel, a very influential father of Judith A. DeJesus and Kenneth D. (Sherry) Kappel, proud grandfather of seven grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren, and 2 great- great grandchildren. In 1960 Frank founded the Florida Intelligence Unit, a statewide organization. Mr. Kappel developed it with the Dade County, Florida, Sheriff's Department Criminal Intelligence Unit. It was organized to build relationships with other police agencies to share information about criminal activity. The Unit is still a functioning unit that shares information about statewide crime. Frank demonstrated leadership his whole career which influenced his children in their careers. Services will be held at a later date.
