George W.�Woody� Benson born in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio February 19, 1940 passed away Wednesday August 25, 2010 after a courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife of 41 years Nancy(Foster) and his twin sister Marilyn Burgess and nephew, David Burgess of Columbus as well as his beloved in laws Marion(Foster) and James Hartenstein of Akron, Ohio, brothers in law, Sidney C. Foster of Akron, Ohio and Brian E. Foster of Georgetown, Texas and their families. He also leaves his great friends and Cancer Central buddy Deb and Bob Oliver of Clayton, NY. George worked for over 30 years for Ceramic Coating Company in Wilder, Ky. Recently he was associated with Odom Industry. He proudly served in the US Army as a medic in Vietnam. Wood served for several years as the soccer commissioner for the community of Terrace Park. He also was a soccer coach for select girl�s teams as well as a women�s 25 years and over team. For the last 20 years he touched many lives through his tireless work with the Greyhound Rescue group. He and Nancy did much to promote and educate the rehabilitation and adoption of retired and rescued Greyhounds. Over the years they fostered over 100 dogs and gave forever homes to many. He loved his wife, his family, his friends and especially treasured his farm, Laughing Dog Farm. If desired, memorials can be made to USA D.O.G.( Defenders of Greyhounds) at P.O. Private services have been held but a Celebration of Wood�s life is planned to take place at Laughing Dog Farm Batavia, Ohio on Sunday afternoon, September 19th at 3 P.M.
