George David Van Epps was born in Ithaca, NY April 23, 1940, to Lena and George Van Epps. Graduated Newfield High School, NY - 1958, Cornell University - 1962, and Syracuse University Law - 1970. He had a long career as an environmental attorney. Dave loved to walk the road less traveled; had a zest for life; and was always learning, teaching, tinkering, exploring, and debating. Though often reserved, Dave always lent a hand to help others. With wisdom and grace, he lived his life. On December 1st 2009, Dave passed away peacefully in his sleep at home in Loveland, Ohio after a long battle with prostate cancer. Surrounded in his final days by family and friends, he kept his quick wit, playing his banjo and dispensing truisms. With a genuine care for others, he touched many peoples lives, often in unexpected ways. Whether pulling Halloween pranks, skydiving with his family, sailing Conesus Lake, or building a garden rock wall; Dave had a knack for creating great memories. He was well loved and will be missed. Dave is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Joan; daughter Sharon and son-in-law John Clements; son Justin and daughter-in-law Hope; daughter Heather; and grandchildren Puja, Sintayehu, Liam, Ayehu, Caleb, and Sophia. Dave is also remembered by his brothers, John and George, many nieces and nephews, honorary family members Clint Spiegel, Troy Bellot and Reid Sexton and countless other friends and loved ones. A memorial celebration will be held at The Manor House in Mason, OH Sunday, December 13 at 11am. Friends and family are invited to share their memories of Dave via email to jmvanepps@yahoo.com.
