GWENDOLYN ( GWEN ) J. NUNN (January 20, 1923 - - March 6, 2013) Gwendolyn J. Nunn, age 90, passed away on March 6, 2013, at Deupree House, in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was born Gwendolyn Marguerite Jones, on January 20, 1923, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, to Evan Morewood Jones (originally from Swansea, Wales) and Martha Harmon Benson Jones (originally from Glenburnie, Maryland). She was the beloved wife of William Nunn for 68 years. She was the loving mother of Judith (Gerald) Dettloff, of Sycamore, IL; Thomas Nunn ( Kathy Wagner), of North Carolina; Jenny (Peter) Holland, of Simsbury, CT; James Nunn, of Covington, KY; and Martha (Norman) Lewis, of Madison, NJ. She was the cherished grandmother of Katherine Berry (RJ) Mann, Elizabeth Holland (Lynn Orlosky), Ross (Sarah) Holland, Kathleen Lewis, Kimberly Lewis, Sarah Lewis, Caroline Lewis, and William Lewis, and a great-grandmother. Gwen spent her high school years in Cleveland and graduated from Shaker Heights High School in Shaker Heights, in 1940. She attended Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio, and graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a B.S. in 1986, at the age of 63. Gwen married then Naval Cadet William Nunn on June 17, 1944, at the First Methodist Church in Brunswick, Georgia, while he was enrolled in the U.S. Navy Radar School in training to become a Night Fighter Director aboard ship. She and Bill moved to Terrace Park, Ohio, from Cleveland in 1952, where they raised their children and lived for 60 years, until moving to Deupree House in November, 2012. She and Bill loved living in Terrace Park, and enjoyed their neighbors, their many friends, the gardens in their yard, the community life and the history they found there. They were part of the dedicated group of residents in the 1950s who were responsible for fund raising and building the Terrace Park Swim Club. Their children honored them in 2011, by gifting them with a Lifetime Membership in the Terrace Park Historical Society. Gwen worked for some years at Pogue�s Department Store in downtown Cincinnati. She was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Terrace Park, and enjoyed singing in their performande choir group. She was a unique and special person, with her beauty, integrity, intelligence, firmness, and her unquenchible curiosity and interest in so many different things. She was preceded in death by her parents, and by her brother, Evan Morewood Jones, Jr. A Memorial service will be 3:00 pm, Saturday, March 16, 2013 at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Terrace Park.
