Harold E. Malaby, Sr.

Harold was the youngest child in a family of 5 children born to Raymond Malaby & Neva Bartlett. Harold was born in Colorado Springs Colorado October 9, 1929. His family moved from Colorado to Butte Montana for a short span of time where his father had several stores. In 1937 the entire family picked up and moved to Long Beach California and soon thereafter to Lynwood California in 1942. In 1947 my father enlisted into the National Guard and served his country through 1955 ending in the Army Reserves. It was in Lynwood my father met his wife to be Arlene Johnson and they married November 1948. To that marriage were born three children; Harold E. Malaby Jr. of Milford Ohio, Mark A. Malaby of Sunland California and Neva Williams of Ojai California. My dad was very active all of his life not only through work at Southern California Edison where he retired from after 37 years, but also in giving back to the various communities he lived in. Jr. Chamber of Commerce / Altadena Jaycees / First Christian Church of Pasadena / then when he move in retirement to the Coachella Valley in Palm Desert he was a Limo Driver / Citizens on Patrol Officer and fully believed in giving back to his community. Following the passing of Arlene the previous October he was very lonely after 66 years of marriage and wanted to be near family so a plan was put into action for him to move by Harold Jr. in Cincinnati. He arrived on this journey excited about being close to his Son & Daughter in law Linda Malaby, Erika & Nate Burns his granddaughter and grandson-in law and three great grandchildren; Abbey, Ava and Natalie. Much love was given to him the one week he was here but his health began to fail and he passed July 31st, 2015. The family will have private services in the coming weeks in California where he will be laid to rest with his wife.
