Irene Howell

July 2, 1930 – October 5, 2026

Irene Howell, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, artist, and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 96. Born on July 2, 1930, Irene grew up in Cincinnati and attended St. Margaret of Cortona Grade School before graduating from Mariemont High School. She began her professional career with the U.S. Treasury Department. On April 19, 1952, Irene married Albert Howell, beginning a loving partnership that lasted more than five decades until Albert's passing in 2004. Together they built a wonderful life and raised their family in Madeira, Ohio, where they resided for more than 40 years. Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Howell; her daughter, Leslie, in 2008; and her son, Charles (Michelle), in 2008.

She is survived by her daughter, Hope Howell; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense pride and joy.

Irene had a passion for travel and cherished the many adventures she shared with Albert. Her favorite journey was an extended trip to England, where they spent several unforgettable weeks exploring the country together. A gifted and dedicated artist, Irene pursued her love of art through studies at the Art Academy of Cincinnati and the University of Cincinnati. Her artistic talent earned her invitations to exhibit her work in many art shows and galleries over the years. She generously shared her talents with others by teaching art classes at the Sycamore Senior Center for many years. Through her creativity, patience, and encouragement, she inspired countless individuals to discover their own artistic abilities.

Irene will be remembered for her artistic spirit, devotion to family, and the kindness she showed to everyone she met. Her legacy lives on in the family she cherished and in the many lives she touched through her art, friendship, and love.

She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.

A private family Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
