Irene Schultz, formerly of Milford and Montgomery Ohio, passed away on January 15, 2022 at 94 years young. She was born to Frank and Margaret Schaefer in Queens, NY, where she attended secretarial school and was a member of the New York City speed skating club. She met the love of her life, George, whom she was married to for 66 years. They settled in Milford, Ohio and raised their 3 children: CJ, Peter and Gerry. Irene was an avid golfer, piano player and painter who ran and taught at a tole painting shop for a number of years. She organized family adventures, traveled extensively with George, and always had a rescue dog by her side. She was a very generous woman volunteering throughout her life for the community, and certainly gave the world more than she took. Her life force, positivity, spark and wit were hard to top and her opinions firm. She resided at Cornerstone in Hampton, NH near her daughter, for the past 3 years. Her last years living with Alzheimer’s were not years of loss but rather years of illuminating the kindness at the core of her being. She aged with grace and dignity. The family would like to Thank the Cornerstone Compass staff for their care and compassion during her time living there. As the program director said “She brought so much joy into all of our lives”. She will be greatly missed. “Goodnight, Irene”. A graveside service will be held on February 12 at 11:00 at the Greenlawn Cemetery in Milford, Ohio. Friends are invited to attend. Memorial donations in her honor may be made to the Alzheimer’s Drug Discovery Foundation or Animal Shelter of your choice. To share memories, go to megiefuneralhome.com.
