We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Janet Hawkins Jones, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Janet’s life was a beautiful reflection of love, creativity, and devotion.
Janet and her twin brother Jim were born on July 17th, 1934, in Bridgeport, Connecticut. They joined their siblings Jack, Bob and Lou Ann. The family moved a lot due to their dad’s job but finally settled in Goshen, Ohio. Jan’s dream of owning a horse came true there and their house, The Anchorage, is now a local museum. Goshen High School is where she met Dave Jones. Several years later they got back together and were married. Their family grew with the addition of Kathy, Ken and Kristi. They moved to Milford and spent the rest of their years there. They had a wonderful marriage for over 62 years.
Janet is survived by her children: Kristi Jones, Ken Jones and Kathy (Daryl) Earls; her grandchildren: Dustin Earls, Tyler Earls, Damon Jones and Matt Jones; her great-granddaughter, Annabelle “Ace” Krummen; and her twin brother, Jim Hawkins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David Jones and her siblings: Bob Hawkins, Jack Hawkins and Lou Ann Novotny.
Jan was dedicated to her family and stayed home to take care of them for many years. Then she worked several secretarial jobs including the Junior League. Jan had lots of activities that kept her busy. Some of her favorite things included cooking, photographing motocross, riding her bike, horses, being a lifelong Reds fan, always cheering for the OSU Buckeyes and so much more.
Jan had an extraordinary talent for growing and designing flowers. Her yard was a labor of love and had many spectacular gardens. She was an involved member of the Day Heights and Goshen Garden Clubs. Her artistic spirit touched everyone who knew her. Her passion for family was unmatched, and she poured her heart into creating lasting memories with those she loved. Janet was also a loyal and dedicated friend, always offering kindness and support. Her warmth, creativity, and unwavering love will forever remain in our hearts.
