Jeffrey Vaughn Dixie, 52, a devoted father, decorated law enforcement officer, and man of deep faith, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2025, in Houston, Texas.
Born on July 5, 1972, Jeff was raised in Houston and graduated from Klein Forest High School. He continued his education at Lone Star College, further shaping the path of a man committed to learning, service, and leadership. From an early age, his strength of character and adventurous spirit were clear. At just 18 years old, he joined the local yacht club, embracing his love of water and exploration. He later became a certified scuba diver and was a gifted writer, known for expressing deep thought and heart through the written word.
At the age of 21, Jeff began his distinguished career in law enforcement with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, serving as a Deputy supervising the Communications Department and Mobile Command, as a Reserve Marine Unit, Deputy with Precinct 4, and an esteemed officer and detective with the Harlingen Police Department. He was also part of the Fugitive Task Force, held the honor of U.S. Marshal, and served as a patrolman with the Richwood Police Department.
His leadership, integrity, and steady presence left a mark on every department he served. Whether in the field or behind the scenes, Jeff was known for his calm strength, humble confidence, and deep loyalty. Supervisors and colleagues consistently described him as someone who made everyone feel safer—simply by showing up.
After retiring from law enforcement, Jeff pursued a new calling that touched lives in a different way. He became the proud founder of Dixie Que, a barbecue food truck in Harlingen, Texas, that quickly became a local treasure. Known for its mouthwatering brisket, community vibe, and Jeff’s signature hospitality, Dixie Que was voted Best Barbecue in Harlingen. It wasn’t just a business—it was a gathering place, a conversation starter, and an extension of the heart he poured into everything he did.
Throughout every chapter of his life, Jeff’s faith in God remained the cornerstone of who he was. His relationship with the Lord shaped the way he lived, loved, led, and served. It was evident in his kindness, his strength, and the peace he carried through life’s challenges.
Of all the roles he held, none meant more to him than being a father. Jeff was a devoted father to his daughter, Soleil Dixie, who was the joy of his life. He loved her endlessly, prayed for her constantly, and worked every day to make her proud.
Jeff is lovingly survived by his daughter Soleil Dixie, his parents Carlos and Pearl Dixie, his sisters Angela and Carla, and his nieces and nephews: Amber, Bryan, Austin, and Kristin. He also leaves behind a large, loving extended family, cherished friends, and a lasting brotherhood of law enforcement professionals who considered him family.
Jeffrey Vaughn Dixie lived with integrity, served with heart, and loved without condition. Whether in uniform, on the water, behind the grill, or sitting quietly in faith, he lived a full, generous, and unforgettable life. His legacy of service, strength, and soul will live on forever.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
