Joan Griffie

Joan Griffie, age 81, passed away on Monday, February 22, 2021. She was the beloved wife of Charles A. Griffie, cherished, all giving, loving, and kind mother of Alan (Reenie) Griffie, proud Nana of Chris, Todd, Amber (Jeremy), and her great granddaughter, Ava Cassarubias, dear sister of Mary Ann and Peggy Faulkner. Joan started her teaching career in Kentucky and taught for 2 years before moving to Ohio. Here in Milford, she began teaching 1St grade at Miami Elementary and in 1980 when Boyd E. Smith School opened continued teaching there for the remainder of her 42-year teaching career. She was a longtime member of the Milford First United Methodist Church, where she also taught Sunday School and was recognized in the Book of Who's Who for her excellence as a distinguished educator. Family and Friends will be received on Monday, March 1, 2021 at Craver Riggs Funeral Home and Crematory, 529 Main St., Milford, OH 45150 from 4-5 PM. A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, March 2, 2021 at Greenlawn Cemetery in Milford at 2 PM.
