Joseph Stephen Kita III

Joseph Stephen Kita III, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and cherished friend, passed away suddenly on March 30, 2026, in Montgomery, Ohio. Born on September 7, 1967, in Califon, New Jersey, Joseph's presence was a source of warmth and light to all who knew him. He was a man that everyone should have as a Papa and friend like he was — steadfast, loving, and deeply caring.

Joseph's life was woven with love and family. He was a father to his daughter, Ashley Kita, the best "Papa Joe" and friend to Naomi Bernert, and great Papa to  Annaleigh and soon-to-be Sutton Stephen Baker. Joseph's heart expanded with every new generation. To them, he was not just a grandfather but a friend whose gentle spirit offered comfort and joy in every moment.

His family circle included his sister, Charlene Kita, and his beloved fur babies, Nicubus “Niky” and Cyrus “Cy,” who brought light and laughter to his life. Though Joseph was deeply loved by all, he was predeceased by his parents, Joseph Stephen and Leona (née Piszkowski) Kita II, and his wife, Karen Jayne Kita, whose memories he held tenderly close to his heart.

Joseph’s sudden passing leaves an immense void in the hearts of those whose lives he touched. The depth of his character was seen in the quiet moments and the loud celebrations of life alike. He offered a rare combination of love and friendship that will be remembered and treasured by his family and friends.

As we mourn the loss of Joseph Stephen Kita III, we also celebrate the beautiful imprint he has left behind — a legacy of unwavering love, warm companionship, and a life well-lived. His spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him, forever a Papa, forever a friend.

A Celebration of Life is being scheduled at a later date.
