Karee (Kay) Meade Everhart, born February 1, 1931, passed away July 23, 2023, despite valiant attempts to live forever. She really did not want to leave the life she loved, filled with family, friends, service, passions, and fun. Kay was blessed to spend her last months at home with her beloved kitty, Bella, under the care of her children and Hospice of Cincinnati. She is survived by her children; Sally (Tom) Proctor, Cathy (Doug) Proctor, Amy Everhart, Nancy Everhart Safran, and William (Robin) Everhart, Jr. She will also be missed by her nine grandchildren; Patrick Baker, Jaclyn Baker, Molly Sullivan, Andrew Sullivan, Claire Safran, Carden Safran Toti, Cassidy Everhart, Reilly Everhart and Maya Everhart, along with three great-grandchildren Andrew Baker, Olivia Baker, and Royal Baker.
Kay grew up in the sweet, small town of Orrville, Ohio with Blaine Murray (Daddy)and her Aunt Carrie. She spent her teens in Lima, Ohio with her mother and went on to graduate from Miami Valley Nursing School in Dayton. Married soon after to William (Bill) Everhart, the couple settled in Springfield, Ohio, before moving to Terrace Park, Ohio where they had the time of their lives. Clodhoppers, tennis, Girl Scouts, soccer, St. Thomas, block parties, great friends - the village was the perfect home for their family, and they embraced and gave to the community in spades. Kay eventually moved to Mariemont and was an active member of that community for 26 years, especially her commitment to the Mariemont Garden Club. She kept busy with St. Thomas, serving on the Vestry and the Martha Guild, contributed to the Mariemont Preservation Foundation, was on the Board of the Terrace Park Historical Society, and was involved with the MariElders. Her next move was to SEM Laurels, where she was active in Book Club, bridge, gardening, and as a still practicing nurse, tended to neighbors with various needs. She held her nursing license until she was 90 - it was her calling that she fulfilled as long as she was able.
Kay was cremated at Megie Funeral Home and a Celebration Service of her life will be held Saturday, October 7 at 1:00 PM at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 100 Miami Ave., Terrace Park, OH 45174, with a reception to follow in the Parish Hall. Her kindness, giving nature, green thumb, mischievousness, engagement, and friendship will be ever so missed. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Terrace Park Historical Society, Mariemont Garden Club, or MariElders, all organizations she held dear to her heart.
