Karl P. 'Phil' Douglas

Karl Phillip Douglas, Sr., devoted and loving husband of Mary L. Douglas (nee Anderson) for 66 years, passed away peacefully on June 10th (age 84) at his Milford, OH home with Mary and caring family at his bedside.

Phil is survived by his beloved sons Phil Jr. and wife Charlee of Loveland, and Jim and wife Julie of Arlington, TX. Other survivors include devoted brother and life-long friend, David Douglas (Peggy) of Nashville, cherished grandchildren Chuck Douglas (Kelly), Lorna Douglas Darby (Ben) and Audrey Douglas. His one great-grandchild Marisa brought him joy and a twinkle to his eye.
Phil was preceded in death by his father, Weaver H. Douglas and mother, Hazel I. (nee Bracy) and nine siblings.

Phil was born in Nashville, TN on March 12, 1933, where he attended Hume-Fogg Tech High School. He began a career in retail in Nashville and moved with his family to Milford, OH in 1962. Phil worked at McAlpin's Department Store, and later at Dillard's, as a shoe buyer and department manager. His successful career included traveling the world on buying trips.

Phil played golf for many years with great friends and truly enjoyed himself during these outings. No one was a stranger to him. He could strike up a conversation any time and instantly make friends. He and Mary were members of Trinity United Methodist Church in Milford, where they were active in the "M Squad" and Sunday night bible study for many years.

Both sons appreciate the wonderful life lessons their father left them: compassion, work and play ethics, devotion to church, love of family, and especially his great sense of humor.
Phil and Mary loved God's small creatures and gave a home to many precious pets through the decades. Their now very loyal cat, Pumpkin, will most certainly miss his presence in the days to come.

Family and friends will be received Thursday, June 15, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Craver-Riggs Funeral Home, 529 Main Street, Milford, Ohio, and Friday, June 16, 2017 from 10:00-11:00 AM at Trinity United Methodist Church, 5767 Wolfpen-Pleasant Hill Rd, Milford, OH 45150, where a Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers family requests memorial contributions be made to Trinity United Methodist Church in Milford.
