Kenneth Eugene Berger, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, departed this world on December 25, 2025, at the age of 88. Born on February 17, 1937, in Fayetteville, Ohio, Kenneth touched the lives of many throughout his lifetime with his warmth, kindness, and enduring spirit.
Ken dedicated his life to working as a heavy equipment operator, a profession that exemplified his strong work ethic and commitment to providing for his family. He also honorably served in the United States Marines, reflecting his dedication to service and duty.
Kenneth cherished the time spent with his children and grandchildren. His love for his family was evident in the way he eagerly engaged in play with all of them, creating memories that will live on in their hearts. He particularly enjoyed riding motorcycles, a passion that allowed him to embrace the freedom of the open road.
Kenneth is survived by his loving daughters, Donna Spears and Carla (Sie Jr.) Brock. His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren: Shawna (Jason) Taulbee, Daniel O'Keefe, Kelli (Zach) Bowling, Bryan (Kaylyn) Althammer, Deanna (Ryan) Hartman, Lori (Jeff) Christianson, and Amanda (Andrew) Esselstein. He was also proud of his great-grandchildren: Natalie (Mike) Thompson, Emily (Jake) Hopkins, Nathan Taulbee, Addyson Althammer, Vivian Althammer, Evan O'Keefe, Ethan O'Keefe, Charlotte Bowling, Mason Bowling, Avery Hartman, Elsie Esselstein, Thaddeus Esselstein, Jocelynn Steele, Alex Steele, and Zoe Steele. He even witnessed the joy of great-great-grandchildren Madilyn Hopkins and Oliver Hopkins.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Matthew and Louise Claire (née DuFau) Berger, and his daughter, Kenda Alcorn. He is also preceded in death by his siblings, Evelyn (Joe) Molinaire, Lucille (John) Glenn, Gertrude (Gale) Vilvens, Bernice (Bernard) Vilvens, Earl (Clara) Berger, Lawrence (Evelyn) Berger, Matthew "Mackie" (Charlene) Berger, Andrew (Eileen) Berger, George Berger, Regina (Bob) Catron, William "Billy" Berger, and his brother-in-law, Ray Houk.
Friends and family are invited to honor Kenneth's memory during a visitation that will be held on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 7:00 PM, both at the Stonelick Church of the Brethren located at 6426 State Route 727, Pleasant Plain, Ohio 45162. Graveside services with military honors will be 9 AM Wednesday, December 31, 2025 at the Plainview Cemetery in Wayne Township.
Kenneth Eugene Berger will be remembered for his unwavering devotion to his family, his passionate endeavors, and the lasting impact he made on all who knew him.
