Larry G. Haggard

Larry G. Haggard, age 70, passed away surrounded by family on December 18, 2016. He was the loving son of the late William H. and Alma I. Haggard, beloved husband of Claudia M. (Nee Louk) Haggard, devoted father of the late David B. Haggard, devoted brother of Thomas (Mary) Haggard, Gary (Deborah) Haggard, Doyla (Calvin) Brewer, Ernest (Ella Brinson) Haggard, and Michael (Terri) Haggard, proud uncle of Robert (Shannon) Haggard, Noelle (Joel) Moser, Gary Haggard Jr., Cory (Mindy) Haggard, Dustin (Kristina) Haggard, Shannon (Patrick) Beck, Christina (Jason) Horsley, the late Kimberly Haggard, Andrew (Malwina) Haggard, Robbie (Haggard) Goodloe, Tabitha Haggard, Lisa (Aaron Degarmo) Haggard, Michael Haggard, Kathleen (Gary) and Danielle, and dear great uncle of Timothy & Jacob Haggard, Elijah & Adam Moser, CJ & Shane Haggard, Keeton, Priya, & Callen Haggard, Kurt Hampton, Nathan & Christina Beck, Olivia & Benjamin Haggard, Paxton Degarmo, Emory Haggard, and Garrett and cherished brother in law of Linda Woodland. Larry will also be missed by many other family, friends, and his precious "children" cats, BoyBoy, Sissee, Little Girl, Blacky, Oliver, and Oreo. Mr. Haggard proudly served our country in the United States Navy. He received a Meritorious Award in 1965. The commendation letter signed by Lt. Cdr. H. Chereskin, the ship's executive officer, says Larry was serving as engineer of a ship's boat returning liberty parties to their respective ships in Golfe Juan, France during heavy weather. One of the passengers fell into the sea as he attempted to board his ship. Haggard attempted to reach the sailor from the boat and when that was unsuccessful jumped in the water and helped support the man until both were pulled out by other personnel. Mr. Haggard was also a member of the Refrigeration Service and Engineering Society. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at 12 Noon at Craver Riggs Funeral Home and Crematory, Milford, Ohio, where family and friends will be received from 10 AM until the hour of service. If desired, family requests memorial contributions be directed to a charity of one's choice in Mr. Haggard's honor.
