JOHNSTON, Laura Lea (nee Thomas), 80, of Milford, Ohio, died on October 17, 2012 of heart failure. Daughter of the late Donald B. and Lucille (nee Wilkinson) Thomas, beloved wife of John O�Neal Johnston, Ph.D., mother of Stuart (Alison) Johnston and Shannon (nee Johnston) (Jim) Schroeder, grandmother to Will, Connor, and Lindsey Johnston and Maggie, Jack, and Tommy Schroeder, Lea will be remembered for her love and dedication to her deep Christian faith, family, friends, nature, and charitable works. Her appreciation of the arts, especially literature, music, and crafts, enriched her life and the lives of those she loved. A graduate of Purdue University, B.S. and Indiana University, M.S., Lea worked at Marion Merrell Dow. Later she worked as Director of Quality Assurance at Hilltop Research until 1988 and served on their Internal Review Board until 2008. Active in Kappa Alpha Theta, Cincinnati Women�s Club, Cincinnati Nature Center, and Milford First United Methodist Church, Lea was an avid golfer and enjoyed cheering for Purdue and Cincinnati sports teams. Visitation will be held Sunday, October 21 from 3-5 PM at Craver-Riggs Funeral Home & Crematory, 529 Main Street Milford, OH. Funeral services will be held Monday, October 22 from 11:00 AM-12:00 PM at Milford First United Methodist Church, 541 Main Street Milford.
