Laura Lillian (Brown) Spriggs, 83, of Columbia Township, died Aug. 24, 2011. Born Dec. 18, 1927, in Greenup, Kentucky, she was the youngest of India and Albert Brown�s seven children. Graduate, Wurtland High School. Attended Ashland Community College. An expert seamstress, she received awards for her costume designs created for Mariemont Players. Former sales associate for American Financial Insurance and Fanny Farmer Candy in McAlpin�s, Kenwood. She was an avid reader, as well as a devoted collector of recipes and family photographs. Lover of any new technology (including Facebook) and her pet cats and dogs. For 20 years, assisted with membership for the USS Laffey, a destroyer that survived the longest kamikaze attack of World War II. Survived by husband of 64 years, Oliver James Spriggs; son, David L. (Stella) Spriggs of Cincinnati; daughters, Gemma McLuckie of Columbus, and Leila J. Spriggs (Mark Perzel) of Batavia; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister Edith (Boyd) Adkins of Greenup, Kentucky; brother-in-law Harold (Barbara) Spriggs of Greenup, KY; sisters-in-law Betty Brown, of Cincinnati, and Aileen (Leo) Turner, of Cisco, Nebraska; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews. Visitation 10 a.m.-noon, and funeral service at noon, Wednesday, Aug. 31, at Craver-Riggs Funeral Home, 529 Main Street, Milford (45150).
