Leonard J. Winchester

Leonard J. Winchester, passed away peacefully at age 91 on June 20, 2015. Born in Germany, he immigrated to France and then to the U.S. with his parents as a teenager. He attended the University of Illinois, joined the army, and returned to Europe in 1945 with the U.S. occupying forces. After completing his master�s degree at Yale University, Winchester became a chemical engineer and worked in Pakistan and Japan before settling in Cincinnati. He enjoyed mountain climbing, skiing, reading, and traveling with his wife Elinor. He is survived by his daughter, Betsy Winchester of Littleton, Colorado. A visitation will be held on Friday, June 26, 2015 from 10:00 am until 12:00 noon at Craver-Riggs Funeral Home & Crematory, 529 Main St., Milford, OH. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Alpine Club, Jewish National Fund or AAAS.
