Leroy Ottaway

Leroy C. Ottaway, 79, passed away on Wednesday, August 17, 2022. He was the devoted husband of Georgeann (nee Craver) Ottaway, whom he married on Oct. 12, 1963, the loving father of Kelly (Gregg) Wehrung and Tracey (Jim) Sumner and his late son, Jeffrey Lee "Jeffie" Ottaway. He was the proud Paps of Tanner and Kylie Sumner and Cailin, Haylee and Travis Wehrung, dear brother of Debra Bitzer, brother-in-law of Sue Craver, uncle of Michelle (Scott) Singleton and great uncle of Conner and Justin Singleton. He is also survived by closest family, the Sandfosses, as well as many other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Ottaway and Dorothy (nee Koth) Miller and his brothers-in-law Steve Craver and Elmer Bitzer. Lee was a longtime member of the St. Philomena Catholic Church, proudly served his Stonelick Township community as the zoning inspector for 48 years and most of all loved working his family farm in Stonelick Valley. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 24, 2022, from 9 AM through 12 NOON, at Megie Funeral Home and Crematory, 529 Main St., Milford, OH 45150. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place following the visitation at 1 PM at the St. Philomena Catholic Church, 1860 Balzhiser Rd., Batavia, OH 45103, officiated by Father Timothy Scherer. Committal will follow the Mass at St. Philomena Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, family requests memorial contributions be directed to the St. Philomena Cemetery Fund, The Bethesda Foundation, or the Charity of one’s choice.
