Margaret "Peggy" Calton passed away on October 11th, 2020. She was 91. Born on August 25, 1929, in Venus, NB, Peggy lived a full life, and enjoyed gardening, sewing, canning, quilting, golf and all sorts of games and puzzles. When her husband, Marion "Buck" Calton, retired, they moved back near where they grew up in Washburn, Missouri, and started immediately to build a new house on 183 acres of land, which they used for gardens, cow pastures, chickens and pigs, and just hiking around - she always loved to walk and hike. As they grew older, they downsized to 4 acres in Cassville, Missouri, and built a smaller house with large gardens and fruit trees, but no cows. After Buck passed away, she bravely moved from Missouri to Loveland, OH, where she worked hard to start a new life with gardening, senior clubs, quilting groups, and making friends with everyone she met.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, parents, Claude and Hallee Carey, one sister Marjorie Hinkle and a brother Gary Carey. Surviving are her aunt (Leola Stone), two sons (David and Doug Calton), grandchildren (Bill Calton, Kesha Calton, David Calton, Erik Calton and Briana Smith), great-grandchildren (Kelsey Calton, Grace Calton, Olive Smith, Garrett Calton, Ezra Smith and Ryker Calton), a brother (Claude Carey Jr) and a sister (Marilyn Williams).
A celebration of her life will occur on Saturday, October 17th from 2 to 4 PM at Craver-Riggs Funeral Home, 529 Main Street, Milford, OH 45150. Due to the CDC guidelines under the COVID-19 pandemic and the requirements for all who enter the funeral home to wear masks, the family of Mrs. Calton asks for masks to be worn to keep everyone as safe as possible.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Alzheimer's Association, 644 Linn St # 1026, Cincinnati, OH 45203.
