Marian Dawn Savage
(June 16, 1932 – February 10, 2024)
Marian Dawn Savage died February 10, 2024, in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was 91 years old. She was born in Duluth, Minnesota on June 16, 1932, to Gladys Marion Vogt and Robert Carl Vogt and sister to Robert Schwartz Vogt, all preceded her in death.
She graduated from Terrace Park High School in 1950 and attended the University of Michigan and the University of Cincinnati. She worked for 8 years at the Vogt, Ivers & Associates, where she met her future husband, Donald E. Savage. They were married for 53 years until Donald’s death in 2013, and they had four children and seven grandchildren.
Marian was a member of St. Paul’s Anglican Church, The Cincinnati Woman’s Club, and The Village Garden Club of Indian Hill. She was always ready to volunteer and be of service to others and to her community. Over the years, she and her husband gave generously to The University of Tennessee Tickle College of Engineering, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, and established several academic scholarships at Grundy County High School, Alice Lloyd College, and Tennessee Tech University.
Marian was an avid knitter and reader. She was always up for a party, especially if Boursin cheese or Graeter’s ice cream was on the menu, and she also loved to travel. She and her husband, Don visited 50 countries and 5 continents together. She loved her Sunday video chats with her family, which started during Covid but became a family staple, continuing up until her last Sunday. She was deeply devoted to her family and friends, with an easy-going smile and an infectious laugh that will be greatly missed by all.
Marian is survived by daughter, Sharon D. Amato and her husband, Rick Amato, and their children: Melana, Patrick, and Sean; daughter, Susan L. Savage-Amodeo and her husband, Vincenzo Amodeo; son, John S. Savage and his wife, Mary Pat Buck, and their children: Jackson and Ben, and daughter, Stephanie D. Savage-Swischuk and her husband, Michael Swischuk and their children: Owen and Victor.
