Orel Ruth Gundlach (nee Ruth), age 92, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2014 in Kenwood, OH. She was born in Fremont, OH, August 15, 1921, to the late Ward C. and Beatrice (nee Stone) Ruth. She was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority and graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1942. On June 7, 1943, she married the love of her life, George Baker Gundlach and together, they lived in Boston, New Orleans and finally settled in Mariemont, OH in 1951. In November of 2007, Orel and George moved to the Seasons in Kenwood, and celebrated 71 years of marriage. Orel was a Sunday school teacher, Brownie and Cub Scout leader and was also responsible for placing foreign students from Miami University and Western College for Women. Summers were spent at Lakeside Chautauqua, OH with her family and many friends, while winters were spent in Siesta Key, FL. Orel and her family were members of the Catawba Island Club in Port Clinton, Oh and also the Terrace Park Country Club. She was the beloved mother of Chris (Jack) Cheatham and the late Samuel B. Gundlach, was a proud grandmother of Andrew Cheatham, Lauren (Kevin) Besecker, Robert (Catheryn) Gundlach and even prouder great grandmother of George and Will Gundlach, Nic and Drake Besecker and Victoria �Tori� and Cheyanne Cheatham. A memorial service is being planned for mid August in Lakeside, OH. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in her memory are directed to Lakeside Chautauqua Foundation, 236 Walnut Ave., Lakeside, OH 43440.
