Pat Kennedy Stegbauer Roy, beloved mother, grandmother, nurse, and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 90. Born at home on West Hollister Street in Cincinnati, Ohio, Pat lived a life marked by resilience, deep family and friend connections, joyful moments, and a love of games. Her strong and enduring spirit was shaped by those around her and, in turn, she touched the lives of many who will remember her with love and affection.
Pat earned her Licensed Practical Nurse certification from East Vocational High School, a reflection of her natural compassion and dedication to helping others. She cared for patients with warmth and skill, forming close friendships with colleagues along the way.
In 1957, Pat married the late Andrew L. Stegbauer, and together they purchased a farm in Fayetteville, OH. While building a successful farm machinery business and acquiring several farms that remain in the family today, they raised four children—the late Linda (the late Allan) Dumford, Randy (Martha) Stegbauer, Becky (Karen Colton) Turner, and Denise (Guy) Griffiths—surrounding them with love, creativity, and lasting family traditions. Pat instilled in them the value of hard work and found joy in the everyday moments of motherhood.
Pat was a proud and doting grandmother to seven grandchildren—Gregory (Caroline), Jeffrey, Steven (Amelia), and Benjamin Stegbauer, Grant, Luke, and Kyle Griffiths—and great-grandmother to Madelyn, Isabelle, and Louis Stegbauer. She loved nothing more than celebrating their milestones and talents.
In 1998, Pat reunited with her high school sweetheart, the late Ralph Roy, and they married in 2004. She embraced his children and grandchildren as her own, building a blended family full of love and connection.
Pat's love of games kept her close to friends and family throughout her life. She and Ralph hosted legendary Rook and Texas Hold’em tournaments with friends in Somerset. After his passing, she continued these cherished gatherings. Upon returning to Fayetteville in 2016, Pat launched “Sunday Game Day” with dear friends Connie and Paul Holden—where Rummikub, Oh Hell, and Sevens were played with gusto and plenty of laughter among a large group of old and new friends every week.
A casual celebration of Pat’s life will be held at the Perry Township Community Center at 3854 US Rt. 50, Fayetteville, OH, on Sunday August 17, beginning at 4pm.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, August 18, 2025 at the St. Angela Merici/ St. Patrick's Chapel, 130 Stone Alley, Fayetteville, Ohio. Her grandson, Fr. Jeffrey Stegbauer, will be the celebrant. Interment will be in the St. Patrick Cemetery, Fayetteville, Ohio immediately following the mass.
If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of Cincinnati, https://hospiceofcincinnati.org/ or made to a charity of your choice that reflects how Pat lived her life—by helping others.
