Born 1926 to Roswell and Virginia (nee Jenkins) Drake, WWII veteran, University of Cincinnati graduate, 1947 Sun Bowl Bearcat Football Team member, Member of Sigma Chi Fraternity, retired executive of John Shillito Company, lifelong big band jazz aficionado and Anderson Township resident.
