Russell W Porter

Russell W. Porter, husband of the late Mary Porter, father of Jeff, Joel, Jim and Kathy (Rohr), grandfather of 7, great grandfather of three, husband of Ellen Porter, step-father of Christine, Holly and Tim, and step-grandfather of 5, passed away December 28, 2018 at the age of 85. Russell earned his BA in engineering at Iowa State, obtained his Master's Degree from Xavier University, served his country through ROTC and was a 1st lieutenant in the US Marines Corps. Upon retiring from his career at General Electric, he became the volunteer director of Medical Volunteers of Cincinnati for over 20 years earning him several awards including the George H.W. Bush Points of Light Award. Through MVC he and other volunteers served thousands of homeless clients with free foot care and new shoes. Services will be held at Church of the Saviour, 8005 Pfeiffer Rd., Montgomery, OH 45242 on Friday, January 11th. Visitation at 10:00 AM followed by a service at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Medical Volunteers of Cincinnati, 10304 Peachtree Ln., Cincinnati OH, 45242 or the Alzheimer's Assoc., 644 Linn St., Ste. 1026, Cincinnati, Oh 45203.
