Sabrina Hope Behan passed away peacefully on March 22,2026 at Hospice of Cincinnati in Blue Ash, Ohio. Sabrina leaves behind many who loved her including her son James Thomas Behan II and his wife Leslie of Maineville, Ohio, as well as their daughters Tinsley Behan (8) and Nora Behan (6) who already miss their Nanny so much. In addition, Sabrina is survived by a brother, Allen (Delores) Freeman of Lynx, Ohio, two sisters, Vicki (Jim) Thacker of Blue Creek, Ohio and Lynn Ryan of Fayetteville, Ohio as well as nephews Nathan Freeman, Gregory Weaver, Timothy Ryan and nieces Jennifer Mitchell, Sarah Wellman, Stephanie Setty, Jillian Barnett and their families.
I addition to her parents Clyde and Ruth Freeman, Sabrina was preceded in death by her beloved husband James Thomas Behan, her in-laws Bob and Phyliss Behan, niece Tammy Grooms, and brother-in-law Willard Weaver all of whom she was excited to see again in heaven.
Sabrina lived a life which was full of all of emotions one can experience. Starting with all the struggles of living in the foster care system as a little girl of five years old. She was placed with families and returned several times, until she found her forever family with Clyde and Ruth Freeman, which was the first time that she had ever felt loved and accepted. After getting married to her husband Jim and having their son, Sabrina had a terrible car accident that tragically claimed the life of her niece Tammy. Later that year she lost her husband in a workplace accident leaving her a widow and single mother.
However, after surviving so much pain and loss, Sabrina did not let those things define her future. She lived her life stubbornly and unapologetically her way and did the absolute best that she could for her son whom she always put ahead of herself. Sabrina was tough because she had to be to survive. But she was loving and hopeful in anticipation of a brighter future for herself and those around her.
Those efforts became reality when she became a grandmother to Tinsley and Nora. Nothing in her life made her as happy as she was when they came into her life. “Nanny” became her favorite name, and she loved every second of time she got with her girls. Even after making the difficult choice to go hospice, her first concern was that her girls didn’t think she was giving up on them. She was thinking of us in her final days and that speaks volumes to the person we have lost.
Sabrina requested that no services be held for her passing, though she was not opposed to a future family gathering for fun and celebration which the family will hold at their leisure.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations in honor of Sabrina Behan be made to the Wilson Children’s Home / Adams County Children Services at 300 North Wilson Drive West Union, Ohio 45639.
