Shirley Murphy

Shirley Murphy (Skimerton), wife for 37 years of the late John ("Jack") Murphy; loving mother of JoAnn (the late Bob) Blacksmith, Robert (Debbie) Murphy, and Dennis Murphy. Beloved friend of the late Bill Parker. Grandmother of John Murphy and Shae Murphy. Great-grandmother of eight and great-great-grandmother of two.

Shirley died on July 14, 2026. Shirley graduated from the Jewish Hospital School of Nursing in 1951. She worked full-time as a nurse and nurse manager after her children were grown. She received the Mercy Heart Award in recognition of her dedication and compassionate care.

Shirley will be remembered for being strong-willed, loving, and social. She loved spending time with family and friends and enjoyed working on puzzles and Sudoku. A devoted Catholic, she was a faithful member of St. Gertrude Church and St. Andrew Church. Her strength, kindness, and unwavering faith touched the lives of all who knew her.

The family will be holding a mass at a later time.
