Thomas M. Jenkins

Thomas M. Jenkins Thomas M. Jenkins, 86, died on November 24, 2021. He was preceded in death by his wife Marie and his parents Thomas and Sue. Tom is survived by daughters Anne Jenkins (Laura Pettibone) and Elizabeth Erb (Tom); grandchildren Diana and TJ; siblings George, John, and Sarah; and beloved nieces and nephews. Tom grew up in Indianapolis and graduated from Kenyon College with a degree in mathematics. He was an Eagle Scout and a member of Beta Theta Pi. He went on to receive a doctorate in mathematics from Yale University. He spent most of his career at the University of Louisville, as a math professor and early builder/director of academic information technology. Tom and Marie retired to Cincinnati to live near Elizabeth and their grandchildren. They continued their lifelong dedication to service and justice through engagement with PFLAG, the Democratic party, and the Episcopal Church. Tom was a steadfast advocate for LGBTQ+ people. He quietly supported refugees and others in need of food, housing, and education. Children recognized Tom as a friendly soul in his red winter hat and abundant white beard. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 28, 2022, at 2:00 PM at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Terrace Park, OH. Tom was thoughtful, kind, and generous. We will miss him terribly, and we treasure all the ways he is with us still.
