Virginia "Ginny" G. Richards

Virginia G. “Ginny” (nee’ Schofield) Richards, age 77, passed away on Sunday, January 23, 2022. She was the cherished daughter of the late Arthur and Gertrude Schofield; loving mother of John (Lydia Fiore) Richards of Albuquerque, NM, Donna (Greg VanLieu) Crossley-VanLieu of Terrace Park, OH, and Kelly (Jon) Kunkle of Plymouth, MA; proud Nana of Kyle (Olivia Bohanan) Richards, Jenna (Tyler) Hamilton, Kelsie (Divoe) Santos, Courtney Crossley, Allyson Crossley, Emily Kunkle, Paige Kunkle, and her great grandchildren, Solumn Richards, Amerylis Richards, and Damyan Santos; kind sister and best friend of Helen (Bryan) Salgado, and will also be missed by many special family members, including nieces, nephews, cousins, and her best friends who were like family to her. Ginny treasured her family and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as Nana and Great-Nana. She was the kindest soul and an immediate friend to everyone she met. She loved the beach, painting, Reese’s peanut butter cups, and her beloved dog Coco. She graduated from Durfee High School in Fall River, MA, the Union Hospital School of Nursing, and Lesley University in Cambridge, MA, where she received her Bachelor of Science in Human Services Management. Ginny devoted nearly 50 years of service to Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River, MA, where she received the Southcoast Health System’s President’s Award for Excellence. She worked most recently as a Case Manager at West Chester Hospital in West Chester, OH. Visitation will be held Saturday, February 12, 2022, from 9:00 - 10:30 AM in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Cherry Place, 178 Winter St., Fall River followed by burial in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Fall River.
