W. Benson "Ben" Mcallister

W. Benson McAllister (“Ben”), 80, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 28th, 2023, at home with Phyllis, his wife of 61 years, by his side. Ben is survived by Phyllis, his three sons, Patrick, Reid and John, his sister, Sheila Hodges, his four grandchildren, Lio, Olivia, Carter, and Edie, and daughters-in-law, Donna and Allison.

Ben was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on September 25, 1943. He attended Arsenal Technical High School in Indianapolis where he graduated with high honors and became the first family member to attend college. While he earned an appointment to the United States Naval Academy, he chose to attend Cornell University, where he graduated with a BA and Masters of Industrial Engineering in 1965. Shortly after, Ben began an almost 3-decade career with Procter & Gamble, where he was a pioneer of Total Quality. Over the course of his career there, he travelled the world on business sharing his wisdom through over 20 countries.

After P&G, Ben worked with the US Shoe Company and Shepherd Chemical Company in Cincinnati for another two decades. He co-founded Little Miami Landscape in 2000 with his son John, and helped to grow it from a one-man operation into a highly successful and respected regional tree specialist company. Ben was also an avid squash and basketball player. He was President of the Cincinnati Squash Racquets Association in 1983, and anyone who ever had to play against him on the basketball court had to respect his unique and highly effective defensive style. Ben was a dedicated father, husband, friend, and businessman and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Funeral Services will be held at 4 PM on Friday, November 3, 2023, at Megie Funeral Home and Crematory, 529 Main St., Milford, OH 45150, where family and friends will be received from 2 PM until the hour of service.
