Walter E. Rogers

Walter E. Rogers, age 83 passed surrounded by his family on October 22, 2019. He was the proud dad of the late Donna (Randy) Remers and Catherine (Robert) Wilson, Vincent Paul (Rita) Rogers, James Wesley ( Tammy) Rogers, Emily Rose (Justin) Rogers, loving grandpa of Kenneth Remers, Abigail Remers, Stephen Rogers, Samuel Rogers, Daniel Rogers and Joshua Rogers, and dear brother of Mary, Trudy, Vicki, Tony, and Cindy.

Born on June 15,1936 in Ponca City, Oklahoma to Joseph W. and Mary R. Rose, then was raised in Kansas City, MO.

Walt served in the United States Air Force from 1955-1959. He prepared for his tour of duty by studying the Korean language at the Institute of Far Eastern Languages at Yale University and remained fluent throughout his life.

He graduated from Jefferson Community College in upstate New York as valedictorian of his class in 1968 and later continued his degree in political science at the University of New York at Buffalo.

Walter was a free-spirited writer and poet. He had an affection for the unique and colorful things in life. A brilliant mind, he always had an interesting story or a witty joke to tell. He chose the religion of Sufism, as it more closely reflected his own beliefs. He loved poetry, the great outdoors, golf, and smoking.

A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held on Sunday, November 3, 2019 from 5:00-7:00 PM at Craver Riggs Funeral Home and Crematory, 529 Main St., Milford, OH 45150.
