William Joseph Davis, Jr.

William J. Bill, Davis Jr, 86 passed away March 21, 2014 at 6:55 p.m. He was born on January 31, 1927, in Pittsburgh, PA and raised in Weirton, WV, the son of William Joseph and Mary Magdeline (nee Lauhlin) Davis. On October 13, 1951 Bill married Bette Alice Poorman in Cincinnati, Ohio. Bill was a long time employee with GE Aircrafts, retiring in 1998. He played football at Steubenville Central Catholic High School, in Steubenville, Ohio where he was awarded a scholarship to XU. Bill graduated from XU as one of their star players and was drafted by LA Rams. From 1968-1973 Bill coached football for St. Savior School in Rossmoyne, Ohio. Along with his parents, Bill is preceded in death by his wife Bette, son Barry, sister Mary (Paul) Virtue, brothers Robert (Bob) and Curt Davis. Bill is survived by his son Bill (Laura) Davis, daughters Becky (Bob) Ober, Bev (Gary) Bentz, Jo (Mark) Brim of Cincinnati, Ohio and Betsy (Keith) Ellington of Corinth Kentucky. Bill is also survived by grandchildren Johnny, Maria, Misty and Ben Bentz, Carrie, Willie and Beth Davis, Shannon Kutcher, Chris, and Mallory Brim, Ethan and Miranda Ellington and great grandchildren Brayden Schaeper, Jaxson Bentz, Mason Oliver, Chloe, Morgan and Laura Bayer, Andrew Huber, Liam Davis, Alia Mack, Kassidy and Kelsey Kutcher, and Gabriel Ellington. Friends and family are welcome Tuesday, 10 am until time of Funeral Mass, 11 am all at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Deer Park.
