Thomas E. DeBerry, a beloved father and respected member of his community, passed away on December 14, 2025, at the age of 90 in Georgetown, Ohio. Born on November 9, 1935, in Albright, West Virginia, Tom lived a life filled with purpose, service, and dedication.
A proud veteran, Tom served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War, embodying the values of courage and commitment to his country. His military service shaped much of his character and instilled in him a lifelong respect for teamwork and perseverance.
Tom was not only an esteemed member of his community but also an active participant in local organizations. He was a cherished member of the Elyria Masonic Lodge #787, where he contributed his time and skills, helping to foster community and brotherhood among its members. He took special pride in teaching younger generations the fundamentals of archery, sharing his passion and knowledge with those eager to learn.
Tom's love for the outdoors was evident in his hobbies, particularly as an avid fisherman. He found great joy in fly fishing, a pastime that connected him to nature and provided countless peaceful moments spent by the water.
In addition to his accomplishments and interests, Tom is survived by his loving daughter, Trena (Lee Trost) DeStevens, and four siblings: Patty, Dianne, Sue, and Bob. His family, including his parents, Junior and Virginia DeBerry, his beloved wife, Betty Jane (née Stevenson) DeBerry, and 7 other siblings who have preceded him in death, held a special place in his heart.
A visitation honoring Thomas E. DeBerry will be held on December 22, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Busch (Avon) Funeral Home, located at 32000 Detroit Rd., Avon, Ohio 44011. This will be followed by a funeral service with a masonic service from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at the same location. Tom will then be laid to rest at Resthaven Memory Garden Cemetery, with a graveside service with military honors taking place from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM.
As friends and family gather to celebrate Tom's life, they will remember him as a man of integrity, a devoted father, and a community leader whose legacy will endure in the hearts of all who knew him.
